This mix is one of my favorite things to make for the holidays. It comes together fast, is super versatile, and delicious! You can even customize it for other occasions, just changing the color candy used. I have linked the ingredients through my Walmart affiliate links, but these are easy to find anywhere! Below is a single batch. I usually double it and bag it up for quick gifts.
1 box Rice Chex Mix Cereal – Family Size
10 oz Bag M&M’s Milk Chocolate Christmas Candy
Snyder’s of Hanover, Itty Bitty Minis Pretzels, 12 oz Bag
- In a large mixing bowl or pan, combine all ingredients except the melting chocolate. Mix to combine.
- Melt white melting chocolate according to package instructions.
- Working quickly using a non-stick spatula (link to the best one ever here), stir until the chocolate coats the entire batch of dry ingredients. You may opt to throw on some gloves and mix by hand. It seems to be the fastest method.
- Spread the mixture in a single layer onto parchment paper to harden.
- Once the chocolate has set, break up any large chunks.
- Christmas Crack mix is ready to share! Store in airtight containers for up to two weeks. I usually divide into quart Ziplocs and place them in a cute gift bag or container to gift.
Over the years, I have found cute additions to add like sprinkles, mini gingerbread men, and tiny cookie bits. The peanuts can also be omitted or substituted with another nut.
*The chocolate is meant to just lightly cover the mix, but if you like a sweeter, more bark-like treat, use more! It’s Christmas after all!
Let me know if you try this recipe this holiday and what fun mix-ins you choose!
